Students arranged the flowers in different pattern and shapes. They made handmade flowers using own creativity and ideas. There were 6 participants from each house. It was truly a delight to see the young hands of our artisans put together to make beautiful flower bouquets.
Students celebrated Maths week “Mathematica” with great enthusiasm. Mathematics became joyful when children did interesting activities in class.
Interactive learning helped children in boosting their confidence.
Maths Quiz was held as a part of Maths Week on 4th August 2016. The rules and regulations were circulated to each house Master and they selected 2 students each from class 5th and 6th making it a total of 4 students per house since there were 4 houses so total 16 contestants from class 5th and 6th contested in a group activity.
The Quiz was divided into 4 rounds with different sets of rules and regulations for each round to access the Versatility of the students. The Rounds were-

- CATCH THE “CATCH”
- BRAIN TEASERS
The Quiz was witnessed by all the students from class 5th to 9th, teachers pertaining to these classes.
Students participated quite enthusiastically in all of these rounds and it was the VIVEKANAND HOUSE (YELLOW) WHO “RULED THE ROOSTS” at the end of the day and stood first followed by TAGORE (BLUE), RADHAKRISHNAN (ORANGE) and TERESA (BLUE).
Basketball is the fast moving game that involves a lot of variety include shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding and much more. It is a team sport. To consider such all things the school organised Interhouse Basketball competition from 22nd – 23rd August 2016 for sub-junior girls of class-III to class- V. Radhakrishnan & Vivekananda houses reached in finals and showed a commendable performance. Duration of the match was 35 minutes i.e. 15-5-15. Though Radhakrishnan house has given a tough competition to Vivekananda House but Vivekananda House won the match by 8-4. Aachal Singh of Radhakrishnan has shown a spirit of true captainship and motivated her team throughout the competition. The final result of houses is:-
1st Position: Vivekananda House
2nd Position: Radhakrishnan House
3rd Position: Tagore House

An Interhouse Flameless cooking competition was organized in our pre-primary section on 2 August 2016. Students of Pre-Nursery to Class-II participated in this with great enthusiasm. They indulge themselves in great ideas. All the students were so excited and teachers were surprised to see their creativity. Overall it was a great fun to see our Goenkans participating with great effort. It was a very yummy day.
To enhance creativity, for the development of artistic skills, motor skills and to learning awareness through artwork, Interhouse art competition was organized on 1st August 2016.
There were different activities for different groups:
Grade I-II : Nature drawing
Grade III-V : Cartoon Making
Grade VI-VII : Rangoli Making
Grade VIII-IX : Poster Making (Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao)
“Always wear a smile, because your smile is a reason for many others to smile.”
On 8th July 2016, “Smile Day” was celebrated in our Goenkan family.
A special assembly was conducted in which kids recited rhymes on smile. Some quotes on smile were told by class-I students and class-II students told why smile is important in our life.
One smile can make all the difference in the world. One smile has the power to release the stress, calm you down, make you attractive, make someone else happy and believe it or not, smiling can actually cause happiness.
Student enjoyed the art & craft activities in which they made smiley crown and smiley flower.
The parents were delighted to witness what their wards were able to learn in a short span of 12 days!
The Chairman & Principal welcomed the guests to an array of spectacular stage performances including Singing, Instrumental Music, Western & Indian Dance, Skating show, Basketball & Athletics Show, Quick Maths Learning Presentation, English Conversation Skills Presentation and Animation & Graphic Designing Presentation.
Thereafter, the newly furnished Art Room was inaugurated in the presence of all parents who were spellbound by the variety of art & craft articles prepared by the students during the Summer Camp.
The programme ended with Tea & Snacks for all.
Summer is not just about sweltering heat, especially if you are a school student. With summer vacation going on, it was time to mix learning with a lot of fun and frolic at the summer camp.
GDGPS Gorakhpur organised Summer Camp 2016 with activities to keep children engaged during the summer vacations. We planned a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities from which children selected at least three interest areas : –

- Games & Sports: Taekwondo/Skating/Cricket/Volleyball/Basketball/Badminton
Dr. Ms. Jaishree Bhargava, the Principal, said, “The formative years are very important, as children learn very quickly and also show interest in various activities. Normal pre-school education is structured classes but in hobby sessions, they get exposure to a lot of things and pick up what they like and express themselves. This would help the child in becoming more creative,” she said.
